Treyarch Looks to Acquire a New Design Director

With the next CallofDuty due out sometime next year, it seems a slightly odd time for one of the main developers of Call of Duty games, Treyarch, to be looking for a brand new design director for their multiplayer team.

When you think about it, this could mean one of a few things: Treyarch is already looking to develop the multiplayer of the next game in the series, or, Treyarch is moving in a new direction from previous revealed plans via Project Iron Wolf. Either way, it is hard to know exactly what to expect from Treyarch when 2012 rolls around.

In addition to this news, Treyarch is looking for several other positions that are clearly linked to their best selling franchise. One description mentions a need for a scriptor who will take "a design test utilising Call of Duty mod tools." Moreover, another listing mentions that contacted applicants may work on "combat systems (such as weapons and attachments) and gameplay mechanics (such as Perks and spawning)".

Treyarch has always had an allegiance to the Call of Duty franchise, so it is safe to assume that these developments are certainly directly related to their next scheduled release. Personally, I think the developments in looking for new staff, especially staff with such weighty titles as "design director," are signs that the game is not only in development, but undergoing some potentially unnatural changes to its design. It is hard to say what will amount from all of this, but it is a safe bet that more information will be surfacing within the next few months as the games details are released to journalists and trade analysts before the game releases in (assumedly) November of next year.
